Evidence-based strategic advising for healthcare organizations, life sciences companies, and beyond
There is often a gap between research findings and real-world implementation, a gap that must be filled by informed guidance on management and strategy. AHE’s Management & Strategy Consulting service is built on the team’s deep experience and synergistic competencies across its other four discipline-based practice areas. In addition to providing advanced analytics, the Avalon team has advised on issues important to management and strategy, such as preparation for market, sales projections, product and service pricing, competitive assessment, organizational efficiency, performance improvement, risk management, market expansion, and mergers and acquisitions. Our approach is to leverage our experience and expertise in data analysis and evidence-based decision-making and apply it to real-world management and organizational challenges.

The U.S. healthcare industry, particularly providers, has undergone considerable consolidation over the past two decades, a trend that has also been observed in some other countries, even ones with very different health systems. The reasons for consolidation are multifactorial, but include enhanced bargaining leverage with suppliers and payers, better continuity of care, better linkages of data across the continuum of care, and economies of scale and scope. As mergers and acquisitions health systems achieve economies of scale and scope in their home markets, opportunities open for the expansion to new markets. The Avalon team helped a large prominent U.S. healthcare system with exactly this type of strategic initiative.
