Avalon Health Economics is happy to announce the addition of Philipp Schuetz, MD, MPH as our Clinical Advisor. He is a board-certified internist and endocrinologist. He has broad clinical and research interests focusing on the application of new developments in endocrinology, infectious diseases, critical illness and general medicine. He has done extensive research on hormones, and has managed two large nation-wide trials investigating Procalcitonin-guided antibiotic stewardship in primary care and in the Emergency Departments of several Swiss hospitals. He authored and co-authored more than 100 original articles and reviews and published his original work in journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), The Lancet and Archives of Internal Medicine, among others. In 2009, he moved to Boston and obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the Harvard School of Public Health while doing clinical research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). Upon his return to Switzerland, he obtained a professorship from the Swiss National Foundation. For Avalon, Dr. Schuetz will advise Avalon staff and clients on clinical issues, and help connect Avalon staff and clients with a large network of physician colleagues globally.
